Connector · CRM · 7 min read
HubSpot was the first CRM to ship a connector for Claude. Once you wire it up, Claude can pull live context from your pipeline (contacts, companies, deals, tickets, invoices, line items…) and - with permission - create records, log activities, and update deals straight from the chat window. This is the small-business quickstart.
Three concrete things you couldn’t do before:
| Requirement | Notes |
|---|---|
| An active HubSpot account | Any paid HubSpot tier with the records you want Claude to see. New to HubSpot?Start on the free CRM - the free tier covers contacts, deals, and tasks, which is enough to feel the connector out. |
| A paid Claude subscription | Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise. The connector isn’t available on the free tier. |
| A HubSpot Super Admin (just for first-time setup) | AdminThe Super Admin (or someone with App Marketplace permissions) installs the connector once for the whole portal. After that, individual users connect themselves. |
Do this once per HubSpot portal. If you’re a solo operator who runs HubSpot, you’re both the admin and the user - just do this step, then step 2.
See HubSpot’s official admin guide: knowledge.hubspot.com.
Once the admin step is done, each person who wants Claude to see HubSpot does this:
Paste any of these into Claude. They’re designed to show the connector working, not just confirm it’s installed.
Summarise this week’s new deals by stage and owner. Highlight any that have been sitting in “Discovery” for more than 10 days.
Find the contact “Acme Industries” in HubSpot. Pull their last three activities and draft a polite follow-up email for me to review.
Create a new deal in HubSpot: company “Sun Lakes Realty”, value $4,800, stage “Proposal sent”, owner me, close date end of next month. Log a note explaining the source was a referral from Jane Hudson.
Pull all open tickets assigned to me and group them by priority. Suggest which three I should clear today.
The connector is permission-scoped. Here’s the lay of the land.
| Object | Read? | Write? |
|---|---|---|
| Contacts | ReadYes | WriteYes - create / update |
| Companies | ReadYes | WriteYes |
| Deals | ReadYes | WriteYes |
| Tickets | ReadYes | WriteLimited |
| Activities / tasks / notes | ReadYes | WriteYes - log straight from chat |
| Line items, quotes, invoices, orders, carts, products, subscriptions, lists, users | ReadYes | Read-only for now |
| Situation | Tip |
|---|---|
| You’re a solo founder | TipYou can do steps 1 and 2 in one sitting. The admin step authorises the app at the portal level; the user step links your specific account. |
| You have multiple HubSpot portals | Each portal needs its own admin install. Users pick which portal they’re authorising during the OAuth step. |
| You don’t want Claude to write | Use the connector anyway - just don’t ask it to create things. It will still summarise and analyse. |
| You worry about training | Anthropic’s standard data terms apply - your business data isn’t used to train Claude. Read your Claude plan terms for the specifics. |
| A teammate left | Revoke the connector from the HubSpot admin side; the connection is bound to the user account that authorised it. |
