Things people ask before they book.
Two products, one person. Lessons teach you the craft; consulting gets the work done for you. Here’s how to tell which one fits what you’re trying to do today.
Should I take a lesson or hire you to do the work?
Quick rule of thumb: if you want to walk away knowing how to build it, book a lesson. If you want to walk away with the thing built, book consulting. Lessons are mentorship at $50/hr where I teach and you drive. Consulting is $75/hr where you hand me the problem and I do the work.
I have a deadline. I just need this thing done. Which one?
Consulting. Book a consulting hour, pick Solo if you don’t need to be on the call, and send me the brief by email or in the booking notes. I’ll work the hour and post outcome notes to your work log when it’s done.
I want to learn but I don’t have a real project yet.
Totally fine. Most students start with “I want to build X” rather than a shipping codebase. Grab the free 15-minute discovery and we’ll shape a small first project together so your first lesson has something concrete to work on.
Can I do both? Switch between them?
Yes. Lessons and consulting are independent products with separate credit buckets - they can’t cross-redeem, but you can absolutely buy both. A common pattern: a few lessons to get the patterns in your head, then a consulting hour or two when you hit a piece you’d rather just have done.
How do I know if my problem is too big for a 1-hour consulting block?
Easiest way: book the free 15-minute discovery first and describe what you want. I’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a one-hour job, a multi-hour job, or something I’m not the right fit for. No pressure to book consulting after.
If I pick Solo, how do I get the brief to you?
Two options, whichever is easier. Drop it in the booking notes field on Cal when you pick the slot, or email it to me after you book. A few sentences of context plus links to anything I’ll need (repo, design, doc) is usually plenty - I’ll ask if I need more before the hour starts.
I’m completely new to agentic coding. Where do I start?
Start with the free 15-minute discovery call. I’ll show you what agentic coding actually looks like in practice and we’ll figure out whether lessons make sense for you. Roughly half the people I work with had never written a line of code before we started.
